First, let me apologize to you, my loves. I had such a run in with Mr. Murphy, of Murphy’s Law – which prevented me from sharing last week’s #MotivationMonday #TravelTuesday and all other features. But, there are always lessons to be learned. To be a master, one must constantly be able to learn, as they will be required to teach! Basically, I need to focus on “preventative” tactics, so that I can still be productive, when faced with tech issues! Always have a back up plan loves, because “expecting the worst” continues to be consistent when you’re a digital savvy maven.
True success stories, include hard work, passion and drive! It also include road blocks, stumbling stones and obstacles. Success is an uphill battle – which require fearlessness. I learned this the hard way. Where there’s a will, there’s a way! I am thankful to have positive black females that I consider “Women of Power” – Lupita Nyong’o, Beyonce, Oprah, Iyanla, Michelle Obama – just to name a few; examples of the fearlessly fierce embodiment of the ideal role model for black women…and women in general! These women each renewed my faith in being who I’ve always wanted to be, empowering my beief in myself and living my dreams.
Do you have a dream?
You would be surprised at how many of us, don’t! Would you like to live your best you? Then first and foremost, you need a plan. Without a plan, plan to fail! I remember when I first started my blogs. I was fresh out of college, earning my dual bachelors degree – while simultaneously finding out I was pregnant. Through all the pain and struggle of my domestic violence struggle, pregnancy and homelessness (4 year to be exact)- planning kept me alive and afloat – every detailed step of the way.
So what’s in a plan?
A plan is a detailed road map of the necessary steps required, to achieve your goals. A series of little plans (1-5 year ) usually prep you for achieving your master plan (10+ years). When I left my abuser, after months of enduring his wrath, while pregnant with his child…I knew getting away needed planning! But to plan – which my actions changed not just my life, but that of my 3 kids – I needed information. I needed to figure out where I could be safe, away from him…but safe and stable enough to sustain my family…while empowering myself by continuing to blog. This step had to be detailed down to the grammar of the draft. The more details…the more real and possible it became. Once its written down, you can begin to allow your mind to manifest it!
Plans Will Change
Accepting this part, makes it all possible for the delays and unanticipated outcomes – easier to get over. Things happen, and usually won’t turn out exactly as planned, but the key is to not give up. Tweaks and upgrades are needed – as your plans should always reflect the proper necessary steps. So if you plan to get to state “K” by October, but that doesn’t seem possible due to life’s unexpected…then your plan should reformat to include “fresh new” (slightly longer) way of still getting to state “K.”

Have you ever wanted to be your own boss? I know, beyond a doubt…that being an independent contractor is the path for me! I love the ability to set my own hours, my office is wherever I am (with my Macbook Pro and other necessities)…that is where my office is – for that moment! I literally pay myself – what I am worth, including frequent spa trips, photo shoots, shopping, traveling…the works! But, to see the bigger picture, I had to think like a “boss.” I had to master my craft or service/product that I have to offer – and creatively introduce to my followers the benefits of getting social – for a cause. You have to want the dream more than anything, to be comfortable in your new skin, but believe me…it’s worth it.
With so much planned for the many projects planned to empower girls and women…yes, including the new magazine about to launch – I vow to keep your favorite features coming! I also have a chic new celebrity client – who will adorn the early stages of the Shades of Beaut(y)ful Campaign, starring Lush Cosmetics and chloe + isabel jewelry for girls and women.
This mission is a personal passion, and watching it begin to take form…ladies, it’s absolutely priceless!
